Having worked with the exciting combination of IP broadcasting and digital signage techniques for a few years I began to realize that all existing real-time, near-real-time and non-real-time media could be joined together in one single medium — digital signage broadcasting. In chapter 1 I have tried to describe how the new flat-panel screens pave the way for completely new medium in almost any environment. Also described are the relationships between the new medium and the Internet as well as digital television are. The chapter contains 11 full-color illustrations.
