No doubt it is the introduction of flat-panel display systems that is the driving force for digital signage systems. However, you will soon realize that today there are many options today when choosing what kind of display device to use. In chapter 2 my intention has been to let the reader get to know the current alternatives and the possible options for tomorrow.
Plasma and various kinds of LCD and OLED displays are described in detail as well as the projection display alternatives and more sophisticated options such as laser and rotating LED systems. Much attention is put on the impressive outdoor LED systems. Also discussed are display systems, that can replace conventional print media.
There are many more alternatives today than just a few years ago when the bulky cathode ray tube was more or less the only choice.
