Chapter 10 deals with storing digital video on disc. This includes hard-drive storage as well as storage on writable DVDs, and so on. Hard-drive features, such as making a “Pause” in a live transmission are covered in detail. Different recording formats are described and finally “twin”- tuner set-top boxes are discussed.
The chapter includes 8 illustrations of which one is in the color insert.
Future devices may be a combination of dual digital receivers, hard disc storage and DVD recording. This would fulfill all expectations regarding temporary and permanent storage of TV programs.
