The fourth way of distributing TV is to use broadband. There are both Internet-based television and broadband IPTV which are two completely different things. This chapter is very much focused on what picture quality can be achieved using various bitrates. This is essential when it comes to Internet-based television. Also covered is Internet access over satellite. More about streaming media and IPTV can be found in Digital Signage Broadcasting (Focal Press 2008).

Broadband IPTV, with IP delivery of a desired channel through an ADSL modem, is a competitor to cable TV.
